1. Acceptance

By registering and using HMI Library you accept these terms and the Community Guidelines, which form part of them. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Accounts may be suspended or terminated for breach.

2. Service description

HMI Library is a web service (SaaS) operated by Pau Serrano García (sole trader / autónomo), NIF 48059727P, Carrer Orient 4, 25318 Les Puelles (Lleida), Spain. It offers:

• An official library of industrial symbols compliant with ISA-101 / ISA-5.1, downloadable as PNG and SVG for use in HMI / SCADA systems.
• An online Symbol Builder to compose your own symbols, save them to your account and export them.
• A community where users publish their own symbols under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0), and where anyone can explore, download, like, comment on and remix them.

Downloads of clean (watermark-free) files — official or community — are subject to the download quota of your plan (Section 4). Previews are always free to view.

3. User account

• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account, including content you publish.
• Notify us of any unauthorised use at hello@hmilibrary.com.
• One account is for one person or entity. Sharing credentials, or creating several accounts to obtain additional free download quota, breaches these terms.
• Your username, display name, avatar, bio, website and published content are public (see the Privacy Policy). Choose a username that does not impersonate another person, company or standards body.

4. Plans, pricing & download quotas

Current prices are on the pricing page. They are charged in EUR, VAT not included. Prices may change with 30 days' notice for existing subscriptions.

• Free: no card required, 5 downloads per calendar month, access to the Symbol Builder and the community.
• Starter: 50 downloads per calendar month, 1 user, monthly or yearly billing.
• Studio: unlimited downloads plus the advanced features listed on the pricing page (vendor export packs and priority support).
• Studio free trial: the monthly Studio plan starts with a 3-day free trial. A valid payment card is required to start it and nothing is charged during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts automatically into a paid monthly subscription at the price shown at checkout (currently 19.99 € + VAT) and your card is charged the day the trial ends. The trial end date is shown on the Stripe checkout page, in the confirmation email and in your dashboard.
• Enterprise: custom, annual contract, contact us.

How quotas work. A download is one clean PNG or SVG export of an official or community symbol. The counter resets on the first day of each calendar month; unused downloads do not roll over. Exporting or downloading your own published symbols does not count against your quota; exporting symbols you keep private does. Download quotas are a feature of the service, not a licence term: we may adjust quota levels or the scope of what counts as a download with at least 30 days' notice by email and on the pricing page (Section 14). Changes that reduce a paid plan's quota apply from your next renewal.

One-time symbol packs are no longer sold. If you bought a pack before this change, your purchase remains valid: the official licence in Section 8 continues to cover the symbols you downloaded, and your account keeps an allowance of 50 downloads per calendar month.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe. We accept Visa, Mastercard and Apple/Google Pay where available. For intra-EU B2B invoicing with a valid VAT ID, the reverse-charge mechanism applies.

6. Renewal & cancellation

• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly).
• If you are on a free trial, cancelling before the trial end date means you are never charged. Cancelling later ends the subscription at the end of the paid period.
• You can cancel at any time from the Stripe customer portal (Dashboard → Billing → "Open Stripe portal"). Your subscription stays active until the end of the period already paid for, after which your account returns to the Free plan.
• No pro-rated refunds for the remaining time except where required by law (see Section 7).
• For a Free account, you can request deletion at any time from your account settings or by emailing us.

7. Refund policy

Under Art. 102 ff. of the Spanish Consumer Protection Act (TRLGDCU) and the EU Consumer Rights Directive, you have the right to withdraw from the contract without justification within 14 calendar days of subscribing — unless you have used the service (downloaded symbols) during that period, in which case the right of withdrawal is lost. In practice we offer a 14-day, no-questions-asked refund on the first paid period; email hello@hmilibrary.com.

8. Licence for official symbols

This section covers symbols published by HMI Library itself (the official catalog, marked "Official"). Community symbols are licensed under CC BY 4.0 — see Section 9.

The Starter, Studio and Enterprise plans include a perpetual commercial licence for official symbols downloaded during an active subscription, on the following terms:

• Allowed: use the symbols in your own or your end clients' HMI/SCADA projects, with no limit on number of projects or duration.
• Allowed: modify the symbols to fit the project's needs.
• Not allowed: redistribute the symbols as a library, pack or stand-alone collection, or include them in competing products.
• Not allowed: claim authorship of the symbols.
• OEM / redistribution: requires a specific Enterprise licence. Contact us.

The Free plan includes a limited evaluation-only licence for the official symbols you download, with no commercial use.

9. User-generated content (community symbols)

9.1 You keep ownership

You keep all intellectual property rights in the symbols, descriptions and comments you create. Publishing on HMI Library does not transfer ownership to us or to anyone else.

9.2 Licence to the public — CC BY 4.0

When you publish a symbol, you license it to everyone under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). This means anyone may copy, use, modify and redistribute it — including commercially — as long as they credit you as required by the licence. You can unpublish or delete a symbol at any time, but the CC BY 4.0 licence is irrevocable for copies already distributed: people who downloaded it while it was published may keep using it under the licence.

Symbols you save but do not publish remain private and are not licensed to anyone.

9.3 Licence to HMI Library

By publishing (or saving) content you grant HMI Library a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, convert between formats, generate previews and thumbnails (including watermarked previews), display, index, distribute and promote that content as part of the service — for example in the explore gallery, on symbol and profile pages, in search results and in communications about the community. For private symbols this licence is limited to what is needed to store them and show them to you. The licence lasts while the content is on the service plus a reasonable period for backups.

9.4 Your warranties

By publishing you confirm that:

• You are the author of the work, or you hold the rights needed to publish it under CC BY 4.0 (for example, a work you made for an employer or client only if they have agreed).
• The work does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, design right, trade secret or confidentiality obligation, and does not contain third-party personal data.
• The work complies with these terms and the Community Guidelines.

You are responsible for any claim arising from content you publish.

9.5 Prohibited content

• Content that infringes third-party rights, or copies of proprietary vendor symbol libraries.
• Malicious files: SVGs with scripts, event handlers, external references or tracking, or any file intended to exploit a viewer, a browser or an HMI runtime.
• Offensive, hateful, harassing, defamatory or otherwise unlawful content.
• Spam: advertising, irrelevant uploads, near-duplicate flooding, keyword stuffing, or manipulation of likes, comments or download counts.
• Content that misrepresents safety-critical standards: claiming ISA, IEC or other conformance or certification it does not have, imitating official certification marks, or using alarm priority colours, safety colours or standard symbols in a way designed to mislead operators.

9.6 Moderation

We may hide or remove any content, revoke the automatic ISA-101 badge, lock comments, and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or the Community Guidelines — without prior notice in serious cases. Publishing is immediate and content is not reviewed by a person before it goes live; the automatic check described in the Community Guidelines is a formal check, not an endorsement. We may also remove content to comply with a legal order.

9.7 Notices, reports and takedown

If you believe content on HMI Library infringes your rights or breaks these terms, use the "Report" button on the symbol or comment, or email hello@hmilibrary.com with: the link to the content, a description of the work or right concerned, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised. We acknowledge notices and respond within 10 business days. We may hide the content while we review it. Where appropriate we inform the uploader, who may reply with a counter-notice; if the parties disagree we may keep the content hidden until the matter is resolved between them or by a competent authority. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are terminated.

9.8 Attribution

When you use a community symbol — in an HMI, in documentation, in a derived library or anywhere else — you must credit the creator as required by CC BY 4.0: creator name (username or display name), symbol title, a link to the symbol page, the licence, and an indication if you changed it. Example: "Centrifugal pump" by jdoe, hmilibrary.com/s/centrifugal-pump, CC BY 4.0 (modified). Where on-screen attribution is not practical (for example on an operator screen), attribution in the project documentation or an "About" screen is acceptable, as the licence allows attribution in any manner reasonable to the medium.

9.9 Remixes and derivatives

You may open any published symbol in the Symbol Builder and build on it. If you publish the result on HMI Library, it is published under CC BY 4.0 and the platform links it to the original and its creator as the attribution. If you use a derivative elsewhere, you must credit the original creator under CC BY 4.0. Do not republish an unchanged copy of someone else's symbol as your own.

9.10 No warranty for community symbols

Community symbols are provided by their creators "as is". HMI Library does not verify their accuracy, standards conformance or fitness for any purpose beyond the automatic check, and neither HMI Library nor the creator gives any warranty. Use them at your own risk in control systems: verifying that a symbol is suitable, correct and safe for a given HMI is the responsibility of the engineer who uses it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HMI Library and the creator are not liable for damages arising from the use of community symbols.

10. Availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available 24/7, but do not guarantee uptime except on Enterprise plans with a specific SLA. We are not liable for outages of third-party services (Stripe, Supabase, Cloudflare).

11. Warranties & liability

The service is provided "as is". Official symbols are designed to industry standards, and community symbols are checked automatically, but neither replaces the professional judgement of the control engineer. Final responsibility for the safe design and operation of the HMI/SCADA system rests with the integrator or end user.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the previous 12 months.

12. Prohibited conduct

• Using the service for illegal purposes or to violate third-party rights.
• Attempting unauthorised access to the infrastructure.
• Automated scraping or bulk downloading of the catalog or the community gallery beyond normal use.
• Circumventing download quotas, watermarks or access controls, including by operating several accounts.
• Reselling or redistributing the official library outside the licence.
• Publishing prohibited content (Section 9.5) or harassing other users.

13. Intellectual property

The website, its source code, brand and the official symbol library are owned by HMI Library. Community symbols are owned by their creators and licensed under CC BY 4.0. Trademarks mentioned (Weintek, Siemens, Rockwell, Inductive Automation, Stripe, Supabase, Cloudflare) are the property of their respective owners. "ISA" and the standard designations ISA-101 and ISA-5.1 refer to publications of the International Society of Automation; HMI Library is not affiliated with or endorsed by ISA.

14. Changes

We may update these terms, the Community Guidelines and the download quotas. Material changes will be notified by email 30 days in advance and announced on the changelog. Continuing to use the service after they take effect implies acceptance.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. For disputes with consumers resident in the EU, the courts of the consumer's domicile have jurisdiction. For businesses, the courts of the owner's domicile.
